NIMA is a multimedia collaborative workshop on multimedia and interdisciplinary collaboration tailored for composers, performers, and multimedia and visual artists who would like to collaborate on new music with one another to create and perform audiovisual works.
NIMA’s mission is to aid instrumentalists, composers, and visual artists in expanding their ability to think beyond their respective fields and collaborate in every facet of the creation of multimedia works. NIMA approaches composers and performers holistically as artists and creators. NIMA aims to further the collaborative practices of audio and visual output by forming small ensembles of composers and performers.
Who We Are:
Alecto Collective
The core of Alecto Collective is composer Kakia Gkoudina and saxophonist Kendra Wheeler. They seek to collaborate and perform with various musicians and creators actively. Alecto Duo’s audiovisual work consists of elements of contemporary music, sound design, and visual art. True to their philosophy of promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, Alecto has organized an audiovisual workshop called NIMA (New Interdisciplinary Music Assembly) and welcomes every composer, instrumentalist, and visual artist interested in interdisciplinary collaboration to join us and aid in our exploration of the vast expressive abilities of sound and image.
