Performance Program

Instructors: Kendra Wheeler (saxophone) / Michael Giunta (percussion):

Instrumentalists of all ages, backgrounds, and levels are welcome to apply! Saxophone study through the
NIMA Sessions will work towards achieving a high level of musicianship and technical playing in tandem with
learning new skill sets and being pushed out of our musical and technical comfort zones. In addition,
through seminars, lectures, readings, and engaging with a wide variety of musical concepts, participants
should leave the NIMA sessions with a broader perspective of what it means to be aware, active,
and engaged artists, a more comprehensive view of what it means to collaborate, to make music,
to perform, to create.

Each performer will receive private and possibly group lessons. Performers are encouraged to come with
specific pieces or projects prepared to perform, but will also have the opportunity to work on
and perform new repertoire.  In addition, throughout the sessions, we may also explore various
chamber music settings.

**Saxophonists may bring any saxophone they have. Please write which saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor,
or baritone) you will bring in your application; no saxophones will be provided.
